Lincoln County VINELink Coverage
North Carolina runs its victim notification service through NC SAVAN. The system ties county jails to Adult Correction data around the clock. It costs nothing. Lincoln County's own roster points straight to VINE. It lists the site code NCSWVINE and the agency code NCLINCOLNSO. The roster also pulls booking images from the Appriss/VINE service. So VINELink fits local custody tracking well. Just do not expect both screens to refresh at the same moment.
Each tool has its own job. The Sheriff's Inmate Search shows who sits in county detention right now. VINELink logs custody status and lets you register for change notices. The Police to Citizen bulletin lists arrest events by date. The court portal tracks the case itself. Entries also change after release or transfer.
The official VINELink entry point lets you pick North Carolina and start a custody search.
This screen shows the service's own interface, not any person's record.
Note: Record the source and time checked because a roster snapshot and a VINE status can update on different schedules.
Check Lincoln County on VINELink
Start with details that separate people sharing a name. After picking North Carolina, VINELink takes a name or an offender ID. The ID is the safer key. A name alone can return several matches. Compare the facility, age, and status fields before trusting any record, and never treat a similar name as a confirmed identity.
- Open VINELink and select North Carolina.
- Choose the custody or offender search and enter the full name or known offender ID.
- Review every close match and compare the facility, identifier, and status shown.
- Open the qualifying record and note its status and the time of the check.
- For current Lincoln County jail custody, compare the result with the official Sheriff roster.
A blank result can mean several things. The person may not be booked yet. Bond may have been posted before intake. Others land in juvenile or mental-health facilities, or in systems outside NC SAVAN. Data can also sit mid-transfer between the jail and VINE. Police precincts fall outside custody coverage, so a police contact alone may never create a record. A blank search is not proof of release. Ask the jail directly when it matters.
Lincoln County VINELink Results
A VINELink record answers identity and custody questions, not the whole Lincoln County case. Fields depend on the agency feed. Read each label as a reported status. A release notice describes movement, not how a charge ended in court.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | The identity label supplied by the participating agency; verify it against another identifier. |
| Offender ID | A service or agency key that helps distinguish people and may change after a transfer. |
| Custody status | The most recent status transmitted to the service. |
| Facility | The county jail or state correctional location tied to the reported record. |
| Status event | A qualifying release, transfer, escape, capture, or other custody change when supplied. |
Lincoln County's roster shows a booking date and a separate custody-status date. Booking marks jail intake. A status date may reflect a later update. If VINELink and the roster disagree, save both timestamps and call the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center or the Sheriff's Office.
Register Lincoln County Custody Alerts
Registration starts with a search for one specific person. North Carolina offers phone, email, text, TTY, and app notices. A four-digit PIN lets you manage or confirm a registration. The program treats registration as confidential and anonymous. Keep the PIN private. Pick contact details you can still reach during a stressful custody change.
- Open the verified person's VINELink record and select the registration or notification option.
- Choose the offered event and contact method, such as phone, text, or email.
- Create a four-digit PIN and complete the confirmation steps shown by the service.
- Save the offender ID, registration details, and NC SAVAN contact information.
- Recheck registration after a transfer because a new offender ID can require a new registration.
The NC SAVAN FAQ explains how notices arrive. General calls run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Critical release, escape, and capture messages can come at any hour. A missed general call may retry every two hours for a day. A critical call may retry every 30 minutes. Email usually sends one status-change message.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's official app page documents a separate mobile channel for alerts, news, road notices, tips, and inmate information.
The Sheriff's app spreads public-safety outreach. An app alert, though, does not replace a VINE custody notice or an official booking record.
Note: A press alert may have no jail record, while a roster update may occur without any Sheriff app notification.
Why Lincoln County Uses VINE
Lincoln County's roster carries its own VINE codes. The feed ties NCSWVINE to the Lincoln Sheriff's agency code. It also carries booking, status, charge, and image references. That points to a working link in the public data path. It is not a guarantee, though. Every arrest will not always create a searchable VINE record.
Sync takes several steps. An officer makes the arrest first, and jail staff complete the intake. The local system records a booking, and VINE receives the status. Someone who bonds out first can fall outside that chain. NC SAVAN also skips police precincts and some facilities. For a very fresh event, the county's Daily Arrest Report shows a selected-date arrest. The live roster answers the in-custody question.
Lincoln County Alert Boundaries
NC SAVAN and VINELink cast a wide net, but not a total one. Coverage can include the Lincoln County jail and North Carolina Adult Correction. It stops short of every police encounter, though. People held only at a precinct are outside it. So are those released by a magistrate without a booking, along with anyone in a juvenile or mental-health facility. Custody searches are open to anyone, yet court-event notices stay limited to victims and others state law allows.
Federal custody works differently. The BOP Inmate Locator tracks Bureau of Prisons inmates, not the Lincoln County jail. Immigration holds run through a separate service. The DHS-VINE source shows that distinct ICE custody system.
That federal split prevents a common mix-up. DHS-VINE is not the North Carolina county-jail search. Each system answers a different custody question. For a final case result, turn to the court record instead. The NC eCourts Portal or the Lincoln County clerk can supply it.
